X (Twitter) bookmarks: how to find, sort and actually use them
Where to find your X bookmarks on the app and the web, what bookmark folders can and can't do, and how to make years of bookmarked threads searchable.
Bookmarking on X is how most people say "I'll read this properly later". Threads on investing, lists of tools, long explanations, recipes. The trouble is that bookmarks pile up in one long, unsearchable list, and "later" rarely comes.
Where to find your bookmarks
- On the web: choose Bookmarks in the menu down the left of x.com (under More on smaller screens).
- In the app: tap your profile picture to open the menu, then Bookmarks.
Your bookmarks are private. A post shows how many times it's been bookmarked in total, but nobody can see that you bookmarked it.
Bookmark folders
X lets you sort bookmarks into folders, but at the time of writing folders are part of X Premium. Without a subscription, every bookmark goes into the same single list, newest first.
Folders help if you file each post as you bookmark it. They don't help much with the hundreds you bookmarked before you started, and they only cover X: they can't sit alongside your saves from anywhere else.
Why bookmarks are hard to use
- Threads lose their shape. You bookmark the first post of a thread, and later have to open it to remember what the whole thread said.
- Finding one is slow. Looking for something from last year usually means a lot of scrolling.
- Posts can disappear. If the author deletes a post or their account, the bookmark goes with it.
Three habits for better bookmarks
- Bookmark with a purpose. Before you tap, ask whether you'll actually come back to it. If it's just interesting, a like does the job.
- Do a weekly clear-out. Read three bookmarks, act on one, remove what you're done with.
- Keep the good ones somewhere searchable. The bookmarks you'll want in a year deserve a home that can find them.
Make your X bookmarks searchable and sorted
Socials Organizer brings your X bookmarks into one library with everything you've saved on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn and Threads. The browser extension reads your Bookmarks page from your own signed-in browser, so there's no password to hand over and nothing is ever posted or changed on your account.
Once your bookmarks are in:
- Threads are marked as threads, with the AI's one-line title for what the whole thing is about.
- Each bookmark is filed by subject, so investing threads land in your money category and coding tips in tech, whatever app they came from.
- Search covers the text of every post, so you can find a bookmark by any word you remember from it.
After the first sync, press Sync whenever you like and only new bookmarks come in. See pricing, or read about why saved posts go unread.
